Project Lidl, Dagenham (Orion Contract Services)
Back in July 2021 Lidl opened the doors to its brand new store on Whalebone Lane in Dagenham. Outside, keen shoppers were queuing and the first customer through the door was presented with a bouquet of flowers. However, the real treat, had they looked higher up, would be the great install of Kingfisher Louvres completed by Orion Contract Services!
The project required louvres to be fitted within two elevations to act as a screen in front of the building’s plant room. The specification requested a 75mm pitch, with a level of weather protection and good airflow. After reviewing the Kingfisher options available, the KW75HPG single bank high performance louvres were chosen thanks to their high level of weathering performance (up to Class A) and their Class 2 airflow.
The louvres were manufactured in the eye-catching RAL 5010 matt, to replicate the well-know “Lidl blue”. This is one of hundreds of polyester powder coat finishes that Kingfisher can provide as standard. We have an extensive list of standard RAL and BS colours included within our standard pricing and our coaters also have access to many more options, which can be supplied at a premium rate. Kingfisher products are finished to architectural grade powder coating and our coaters can cater for many different powder brands and work to industry-recognised standards.
At Kingfisher we always work closely with our customers to ensure the project details and aesthetics are correct. We have standard CAD details for all our louvre systems, which can be used to create project drawings for approval and manufacture. Kingfisher can also provide information on the span capabilities of our systems, which can assist with designing support structures and louvre layouts.
The louvres for Lidl were supplied in component form. Components are supplied cut to size for assembly on site; this means that our louvres can be supplied to suit any size. This project had over 22m of louvres, generally with blades supplied at circa 2.5m lengths for ease of manual handling. Kingfisher can supply a layout sketch confirming the install location of all components and our fabrication team will also label packaging on deliveries to assist with installations.
